What types of teachers are there?

Teaching is a broad term. From the time we are born until the time we die we meet people who might be considered teachers. Of course our parents are the first and most important teachers in our life, and guide our schooling from the moment we are born. In the traditional educations setting, there are guidelines that help those in the know transfer information to those who are there to learn. Humans assimilate most of their education subconsciously, by observation and imitation. As teachers, we model the behaviour and information for students so they can become competent scholars and citizens. The goal of a teacher guide the students so they can learn the material themselves.

This is a broad question and needs clarification. A child’s first, and most influential teacher is their parents. From birth onwards, children take cues from parents and discover ways to think, and behave through their parents guidance and instruction. Parents remain a pivotal source of guidance both at home and in school when children head to school. While school teachers assume responsibility for teaching academics, studies have proven that children perform better when their parents are actively involved in their school careers. Briefly though, if you are going to teach, you will do so in a kindergarten school, elementary school (Grades 1 through 4), Middle School (Grades 5 though 8) or high school (Grades 9 through 12), community college, a four year school, a graduate programme... Different school districts will divide their student population in different ways, so some might not have Middle schools, or some high schools might include Grade Eight. Check with your school district to see how your how you the structure of your schools.
